Abstract

Cichorium (C.) intybus is an important medicinal herb has been used in Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha System of Medicine for treatment of liver, stomach, kidney and skin diseases. It is also used as blood purifier, antipyretic and antibacterial. Free radicals or highly reactive oxygen species are capable of inducing various degenerative diseases through oxidative damage to cells/organs in human being. The study was aim to determinate the phytochemical characterization and evaluates the antioxidant property and effects of cultivated in foothill area of Uttarakhand on hyperglycemic rats.
